Operational Audits · Focused Audit
Ground handling &
FBO operations audit.
An operator-side review of ground handling coordination, aircraft turnaround, passenger and baggage handling, catering delivery and FBO communication.
What This Audit Covers
Where the mission meets the ramp
For a private jet operator, ground handling is where several outside parties have to deliver to one timeline: handler, FBO, caterer, fueller and transport. The audit examines how the operator plans and controls that interface, and where time and quality are lost.
It is delivered with a ground operations specialist where scope requires one. It is not a handler certification or IS-BAH audit.
Typical evidence
- Handling requests and confirmations
- Turnaround timelines and delay records
- Catering delivery records
- Passenger and baggage handling procedures
- Observation of turnarounds where scoped
Operational Challenges Addressed
Common ground-side failure points
Incomplete handling requests
Missing passenger, baggage or special-handling details sent to the handler.
Unconfirmed timings
Catering, fuel and transport times assumed rather than confirmed.
No turnaround sequence
Tasks performed in whatever order the ramp allows.
Passenger experience gaps
Arrival, security and boarding steps that do not match the principal's expectations.
Baggage handling
Special items, oversize or valuable baggage handled without a defined process.
Weak FBO communication
Changes not reaching the FBO, handler and crew at the same time.
Areas Assessed
From request to departure
Handling request process
Templates, completeness, lead times and confirmation of requested services.
Aircraft turnaround
Sequence, dependencies, timings and recurring causes of delay.
Passenger handling
Arrival, transport, security, lounge and boarding coordination for principals and guests.
Baggage handling
Loading, special and valuable items, reconciliation and delivery on arrival.
Catering delivery
Delivery windows, temperature control on handover, receipt checks against order.
FBO communication
Points of contact, change notification, briefing and post-mission feedback.
Expected Deliverables

Frequently Asked Questions
Before you enquire
How can ground handling coordination reduce operational delays?
Most turnaround delays come from information, not effort: late or incomplete handling requests, unconfirmed catering times, unclear passenger arrival details and no agreed sequence on the ramp. Standard request templates, confirmed timelines and a single point of contact on each side remove much of that delay.
Do you audit the handling agent itself?
The audit focuses on the operator's side: how the operator plans, requests, briefs, monitors and follows up handling services. Where the operator wants handler performance reviewed, it is assessed against the operator's agreed service requirements. EDAERO does not certify handlers or conduct IS-BAH audits.
Can this be done at outstations?
Yes, where scoped. Observation at a sample of outstations and review of records for others is the usual approach.
